Advancement to Candidacy

Ph.D. students should be admitted to candidacy within two years from the initial registration date.  The Faculty of Graduate and Postgraduate Studies (G+PS) states that a Ph.D. student who is not admitted to candidacy within a period of three years from the date of initial registration will be required to withdraw from the program. However, extension of this period may be permitted by the Dean under exceptional circumstances.

Students should complete and submit to Experimental Medicine Office, the  “Recommendation for Advancement to Candidacy” form (advancement_to_candidacy-1) (can be also downloaded from Faculty of Graduate & Postgraduate Studies’ website) once they complete all their coursework, have given their comprehensive examination and Supervisory Committee has approved the thesis proposal.
